Abby LOVED All Things Ball
It was July 12, 2023 and we were in an exciting week here at Brave and Faithful K9. Our dams were in season and our girl, Abraxas Seahawk, was on our schedule for a repeat breeding with our chosen Sire: Loverboy Vom Salztalblick who was in town for just such an occasion. We headed to our vet for a quick and final progesterone test for estimating the most perfect timing for being successful at getting our next HOPEFUL PUPPIES from this awesome pairing.
BUT OUR PLANS AND EXCITEMENT SOON TURNED TO HEARTBREAK
Because we are very proactive in the veterinary care of all of our dogs and puppies, we asked our veterinarian if she could do an additional, final check of Abraxas that day before breeding her due to a small amount of possible bloating.
"No Big Deal," I (Janie) thought. "She is acting completely normal and there is nothing off about her at all." I am always overly concerned about every health detail of our dogs and puppies and figured this was just another one of those occasions.
...BUT IT WASN'T
Our veterinarian found that Abby had a large mass on her liver. Dr. Summer was very thorough in diagnosing Abby and compassionately gave us options for her care. The bottom-line was that the mass could rupture at anytime and other treatment options would not resolve the issue but only prolong her life which would most likely include future suffering. (As a sidenote of importance: Our veterinarian informed us that this condition is a NON-GENETIC COMPLICATION...which we were thankful to know.)
WE (Greg, Janie, & Megan Clouse)
DECIDED THAT THE BEST THING FOR ABBY
WAS TO LET HER GO PEACEFULLY
So we found ourselves surrounding Abby that very afternoon and telling her good-bye. She was a little groggy from some of her tests and didn't even want Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets (imagine that).
BUT HER BALL...YES, HER BALL SHE WANTED
She passed away peacefully with her ball close by which was fitting as it was one of her VERY Favorite Things! She was only 7 years old and there was so much left for her to do.
Abby was an AMAZING Working-Line German Shepherd and a Sweet girl! She gave us our very first litter at Brave and Faithful K9: THE GENESIS LITTER 2019. She was Megan's Flashy IGP Working Partner who was Always Ready and Willing to Train. Megan and Abby trained together for hundred's and hundred's and hundred's of hours accomplishing Multiple Titles in the IGP/Schutzhund arena, Multiple Levels of Canine Good Citizen Certifications, and Various AKC Trick Titles. Abby was part of our family and every-day lives; we will miss her and all the dreams of things to come with her that will never be.

Our Abraxas Seahawk was a Wonderful Mama!
She Gave Us
4 BEAUTIFUL LITTERS OF PUPPIES
We already miss the puppies that we were ready to name for her final litter...
THE SUPERCLIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS 2023 LITTER
This would be befitting for a girl like Abby's offspring!
We are reserving this name forever for these puppies that were not meant to be.
You were a sweet mama, Abby
Abraxas was a precious mama who also loved the other puppies that weren't even her own. She would often want in with other litters to check on them when they were in a play yard without their birth mama around. She had a natural, mama instinct that even resulted in her being willing and ready to nurse another puppy from a different dam's litter that was a little slower to wean on to puppy food. What a sweet girl!
